Cameroon hosts first electronic banking forum
- Posted on Thursday 1 November 2007 - 14:26PANAExperts of the Central African Monetary Office (OMAC) and Central African Monetary Society (SMAC) on Wednesday began a two-day meeting in Douala, Cameroon's economic capital, to discuss electronic banking in the region.
OMAC president Clément Mouamba said the forum on electronic banking in Central Africa was the result of concerns of financial institutions to bridge the huge electronic banking gap in the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).
According to Benoît Belibi, OMAC Director General, this first forum would deal with the development and optimisation of access cards or credit card payment in the Central African region.
Organisers say the Douala conference is being attended by card professionals, electronic banking experts and managers.
